Dr. Roger Le Grand

Dr. Roger Le Grandis Head of the Department of Immuno-Virology of the Institute of Emerging Diseases and Innovative Therapies (iMETI) at the “Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives” (CEA), France. His research focuses on non-human primate (NHP) models of human viral infections including HIV, HBV, dengue, human influenza and chikungunya.

Dr Le Grand is particularly interested in host-pathogen interactions and the prevention of viral transmission and vaccines, in particular. He is currently developing programs of mucosal viral transmission, early immune response to natural infections and characterization of early cellular and molecular events at sites of vaccine injection. 

His work has generated more than 110 referenced peer-reviewed publications. He has worked as an expert, providing consulting services to several French national research agencies, the French government, the European TRANSVAC program, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the WHO.
