Prof. Claude Leclerc is the Head of the Immune Regulation and Vaccinology Unit, which belongs to the Department of Immunology of the Institut Pasteur. Pr. Claude Leclerc exerts various responsibilities in the administration of research in France, including being President of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Cochin-Pasteur Clinical Investigation Center in Vaccinology and member of the Institut Pasteur Administrative Council. She has been the Vice President of the Scientific Council of the Pasteur Institute and the Secretary of the Institut Pasteur Administrative Council.
Claude Leclerc’s laboratory is presently focused its activity on the understanding of the mechanisms that control the activation and regulation of T cell responses and on the development of new strategies of vaccination against tumors. Her lab recently developed new strategies to deliver antigen to dendritic cells. Based on these new vectors, she developed several therapeutic anti-cancer vaccine candidates, targeting in particular melanoma and cervical cancer; two of them have entered clinical trials in 2011.
Claude Leclerc has coordinated several European Commission projects and she regularly organizes, chairs and speaks at national and international meetings in the fields of immunology and vaccinology.
Claude Leclerc has more than 270 publications, in renowned scientific journals and is the inventor of 26 patents within the vaccine field. She has received numerous awards and honors, such as the Prix de Paris de la Ligue Contre le Cancer in 2004. She has been nominated Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 2008.
